Hi, Stephen G. Brown! Is it essential to add 'о' for the prepositional case? — This unsigned comment was added by Symnodas (talk • contribs) at 01:47, 28 January 2012.
- I wouldn’t say essential, but helpful. The prepositional case is really a concretion of two different cases, including the locative. For many words, there is still a difference between the prepositional and the locative. For example, о береге, на берегу; о две́ри, в двери́. There are also other cases that many Russian words have, including the partitive-genitive and, for a few words, the vocative. Adding the о also tells me as an editor that there is some irregularity in this particular word. —Stephen (Talk) 15:50, 27 January 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, and need to remember to put об (ob) when the word starts with a vowel. --Anatoli (обсудить) 05:53, 28 January 2012 (UTC)
