I found a discussion of this word on Languagehat, a very good language-related blog. As I've done several times before I posted a request for the word here in Wiktionary. Stephen responded very quickly with one of his typically very good articles with two senses defined. So then I let Languagehat know about Stephens's article and Languagehat was very happy and posted a follup post where he has some questions.

I’m not sure Languagehat is a good place to post anything. I placed one message there, then noticed that it makes one’s e-mail address open to public view. Doesn’t this lead to a lot of spam? I haven’t received any spam in years, but now I’m probably in for it. —Stephen 10:17, 18 November 2005 (UTC)
