[edit]A citation for the reconstructed Proto-Slavic *větridlo (currently mentioned in the article) is needed. Ukrenko (talk) 11:32, 16 March 2023 (UTC)
- Also, I’m not sure why user Gnosandes felt a need to scrap the following paragraph of mine with explanations of meaning:
- «Probably, from unattested meaning of [[вітрити]] as "to wind, to wind up, to wind through, to fill with wind", and so [[вітрило]] with the meaning "an instrument or a tool for winding, blowing wind through; that which uses the blowing of the wind; that which gets filled with wind".»
- Adding to that, such meaning is actually not unattested, as it turns out, and can be found in the Dictionary of Old East Slavic by Izmail Sreznevsky (Словарь Древне-Русского языка И.И.Срезневского), in volume 1 on page 498:
- «ВѢТРИТИ, ВѢТРЮ (В.) — вѣять ["to blow, to whiff"], производить вѣтеръ ["to produce wind"], ventilare…» Ukrenko (talk) 11:46, 16 March 2023 (UTC)
