Ethymological meaning of the root term from which daimonios is derived

[edit]

As per Wiktionary's own entry, Daimonios is derived from daimon and, i quote from wiktionary's onw entry: Daimon: "From δαίομαι (daíomai, “to divide”) +‎ -μων (-mōn), from Proto-Indo-European *deh₂-i- (“to divide, cut)"

The currenty entry doesn't reflect such a meaning, just defaulting to the most commonly used meaning of a "deity" but ethymologically it means divided or cut (from a greater source).
