The provided etymology supposedly deriving from a vulgar Latin "interroguare" follows no known rules of sound changes. It's much more likely "întreba" developed in the early centuries of Proto-Romanian. For example: interrogāre > *ntirugári > *ntriguári > *ntribá(ri).
