[edit]Etymology
[edit]Folk traditions erroneously append the meaning of "scorched earth" after the scorched earth tactics of the legendary Sri Lumay, inspired by sugba. However, it is most likely derived from sugbo, which originally meant "to stay in shallow waters", as per the Vocabulario de la Lengua Bisaya.
