[edit]Uncertain, but two name origins exist:
- The community is named after the Stoney (Nakoda) First Nations, who historically camped in the surrounding area, and;
- According to Dr. James Hector, a geologist on the Palliser Expedition, the town is named after boulders in the area.
Proper noun
[edit]- A town in Alberta, Canada; the centre of Parkland County.
