[edit]Borrowed from Early Modern Spanish Jesús (“Jesus”). This is found in early texts such as Doctrina Christiana written in Baybayin as ᜐᜒᜐᜓ. Doublet of Hesus, a later borrowing. Compare Hokkien 西士 (Se-sū).
