[edit]- (Friesland) First attested as Schulenburg in 1664. Compound of schuilen (“shelter, hide”) and burg (“manor”). Originally the name of an inn. See also West Frisian Skûlenboarch.
- (Overijssel) First attested as sculenburch in 1229. Named after a former castle.
- (Utrecht) First attested as de Schuijlenburg in the 18th century. Named after a former farmhouse.
