Schrottgorod
Appearance
German
[edit]Etymology
[edit]From Schrott (“scrap metal, junk”) + Russian го́род (górod, “town, city”), loosely calquing Eisenhüttenstadt (literally “Iron Works City”) and rhyming with Nowgorod. The name alludes to the origins of the town as a socialist planned city and, probably, to its continuous decline.
