[edit]From Ecclesiastical Latin sarabaita, possibly from Coptic ⲥⲁ (sa) + ⲣⲁⲩⲏ (rauē) or Coptic ⲥⲁ (sa) + ⲣⲁ (ra) + ⲁⲩⲏⲧ (auēt). Compare with ⲥⲁⲣⲁⲕⲱⲧⲉ (sarakōte).
