[edit]From Rosine + picken. Derived from idiomatic expressions such as sich die Rosinen herauspicken (“to cherry-pick”, literally “to pick out raisins”) or sich die Rosinen aus dem Kuchen picken (literally “to pick raisins out of the cake”).
