The High German is doubtful. The modern Schnauze (Schnauße) is late and probably from Low German by semi-correct adaptation. Wherever there do exist native cognates, these have umlaut and a short vowel, thus MHG *snüzze (Central Franconian, parts of Rhine Franconian). 80.187.118.167 21:19, 1 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
