@Rua: Why did you remove {{af|sla-pro|*gladъ|*-kъ}} in diff? ChignonПучок 16:40, 1 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Because there is no such word as *gladъ in Slavic. —Rua (mew) 16:41, 1 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
All right, but can we leave {{af|sla-pro|*-kъ}} please? ChignonПучок 16:42, 1 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
Is it used to form new words within Slavic? And what does it mean? From what I can tell, it's only used on older u-stem adjectives to convert them into o-stem ones, but doesn't have any meaning. —Rua (mew) 16:53, 1 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
My main concern is whether it actually makes sense to consider these uses of an affix within Slavic itself. I don't think anyone speaking a Slavic language today would analyse the words as affixed, because the un-affixed form doesn't exist in any Slavic language. It doesn't appear to be any different for Proto-Slavic itself either, for the same reason. Once there were no more u- and ū-stem words left to convert, the suffix would have stopped having any use, and speakers would have considered it an unanalysable part of the word. —Rua (mew) 17:06, 1 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
