Catawa nepen/nəpə̨ is also found as depen/dəpə̨, which Rankin says indicates that "variation between initial oral and nasal stops preceding nasal vowels is as common (and ancient) in Catawban as it is in Siouan, making this phonological characteristic of Siouan-Catawban very old indeed." - -sche (discuss) 16:34, 1 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
