@Tropylium How can ō exist here before ë in the third syllable? It should have been raised to u. Álgu gives *ëlmëńčë instead but I don't know if that fits better. —Rua (mew) 18:05, 29 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Whoops, yes, that's an error on my part. YSS gives just the root, as *olmō-; most descendants point to *-ńčë but that should clearly go with raising to *-u-. --Tropylium (talk) 19:01, 29 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
Any idea why Sammallahti gives such a different reconstruction? I found a bunch of other reconstructions in Álgu beginning with ë that have o/å in almost all the descendants. —Rua (mew) 19:12, 29 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
