Ishigaki word for 'star'

[edit]

Note the Ishigaki word for 'star' is /pùsú/ as a standalone noun and /búsɨ̀/ as an affix (note the affix is voiced). Note the initial vowel is voiced, unlike pR *pusi (joint) where there's no voicing of the vowel.

It seems that the standalone noun has irregular accent and an irregular second vowel; the affix has the expected accent and second vowel, and forms such as Shuri ɸúɕì and Yonaguni ɸùtɕí show that the tone class of pR *posi 'star' is A, however Igarashi marks the pR accent as irregular (see here; but it appears that all Ryukyuan dialects point to tone class A).
