Yonaguni loaning

[edit]

It is possible that the lack of sound mutilation in Yonaguni is the same reason as why we don't see palatalization after nasal to *kimyo; like *sima "island"; *simo "frost" or "bottom", with one exceptional word: *ima "already" and deriative *ima-ma "now", unless the non palatal words are loans, but it's also supported by the lack of palatalization of *-mo to *-myo in Old Okinawan.
