Proto-Indo-Iranian seems quite a stretch

[edit]

Unclear how Proto-Indo-Iranian *pr̥Hwás (ancient, old) would be related to Proto-Japonic puru. I note too that this derives from Proto-Indo-European *preh₂- derivative *pr̥h₂-wó-s, which also spawned Old English forwost, and the etym there glosses PIE *pr̥h₂-wó-s as "first", not "old".

Are we listing any accidentally similar terms as comparanda? Or is there a reason to think that Proto-Indo-Iranian might be relevant to Proto-Japonic? ‑‑ Eiríkr Útlendi │Tala við mig 22:47, 13 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
