Reconstructed sounds

[edit]

Daijisen and Daijirin, among other sources, both suggest that modern およぐ may be shift from older およく, without voicing. ‑‑ Eiríkr Útlendi │Tala við mig 23:40, 3 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

Daijirin is no longer available at Kotobank. The KDJ entry is here, and that also notes that this may have been oyoku in older times. The KDJ lists a first attestation only from The Tale of Genji, circa 1000 CE.
Searching in ONCOJ for \boyok or \boyog produces zero results, indicating that neither form oyogu nor oyoku exist in the (currently available) Old Japanese corpus. ‑‑ Eiríkr Útlendi │Tala við mig 06:32, 19 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
