Oscan

[edit]

Possible cognate to Oscan físnam, especially if í is /e/. Relevant context: "púst feíhúís pús fisnam amfret eíseí tercí nep abellanús nep núvlanús pídum tríbarakattins", which translates as "Behind the walls around the temple, neither Abellani nor Nuvlani may build anything." I should add the source, fr:w:Cippus_Abellanus, and note that the spelling of the word that means temple seems to vary quite a bit within that inscription. Either we are sloppy copiers or the scribe was a sloppy speller. Soap 01:25, 27 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
