Unrelated: wouldn't this be better reconstructed as *h₂eḱrós or even *h₂éḱros, to account for what the descendants actually show? Dghmonwiskos (talk) 19:08, 23 November 2017 (UTC)
- It's quite likely that the full grade root is a secondary development. Descendants generally eliminated nonsyllabic zero grade roots in favour of full grades. —Rua (mew) 19:11, 23 November 2017 (UTC)
- It would absolutely be better reconstructed as *h2eḱros because all of the descendants begin with a vowel which is only possible for Greek if it were truly a zero-grade.
