@Victar: What is the standpoint of Wiktionary regarding the extensions Proto-Indo-European *-it and Proto-Indo-European *-ut? Some scholars interpret them as nominalizer suffixes to adjectival roots. In particular, at p. 14 of [1], Pooth claims that *h₂élbʰit is a nominalization of *h₂élbʰos (“white”) +‎ *-it. Do you know if there is wide enough acceptance of this viewpoint? PS If we accept that the primary meaning was the white one, then Proto-Germanic *albits (“swan”) is also a descendant. 95.42.64.138 11:09, 12 January 2020 (UTC)
