Sense "camel"

This doesn't trouble me as such, of course. The average Germanic wouldn't have had a clear idea of either an elephant or a camel, so they could easily be mixed up. But my question is: Do we actually have sources in the "Old" languages (OE, OHG etc.) that speak of the animal as such? Describing it and showing that the writer at least knew what he was talking about? Because it's clear that the vast majority of uses are in the context of the NT verse "a camel through the eye of a needle", where the nature of the animal is pretty irrelevant. 90.186.170.60 02:04, 30 August 2023 (UTC)

By the way: Even if we have such sources, it only secures the sense "camel" for later stages. It would still be possible that in Proto-Germanic times the sense was something like "dubious large animal we've never seen". 90.186.170.60 02:09, 30 August 2023 (UTC)
