Comparatives/superlatives

[edit]

Old English seems to attest both comparative adjective endings *sunþrizô and *sunþrōzô, as sūþra and sȳþera, respectively, but only a superlative in *-umistaz.

Old Norse attests *sunþrizô and *sunþristaz, as syðri and synnstr, respectively. Confusingly, Old Norse also attests the adverbial comparative and superlative *sunþrōz, *sunþrōst, as sunnar and sunnarst. Anglom (talk) 18:19, 24 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
