Old Saxon "skimo" yielded Middle Low German "scheme", so the vowel was short. It's *skimô, whence also German Schemen.

Some of the forms here do need to be on another entry, but the Gothic form quite definitely points to a long vowel. — Mnemosientje (t · c) 15:03, 11 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
