[edit]The Old Norse word fjǫlrœðr (“much talked about”), points straightforwardly to being derived from *rōdijaną (“to speak (of)”). The Old Norse compound tírœðr (“decimal; hundred years old; hundred-measuring”), rather points to a meaning of "ordered, arranged, counted", from an earlier meaning in the root, cf. *radą, *radō.
