According to the Nynorsk Etymologisk Ordbok "Prata" means snakke and is related to prattle. see: https://archive.org/stream/nynorsketymologi00torp#page/498/mode/2up

"Prette" means pretty

"Prata" is not a descendant of "prattuz". The former is a verb, the latter a noun. —CodeCat 01:04, 9 September 2016 (UTC)
