Old Norse shows a related pair of adjectives samfeðri (having the same father) and sammœðri (having the same mother), which seem more or less parallel to Old English ġefæderen (having the same father), ġemēderen (having the same mother). These Old Norse forms are inflected weak, but point to *fadrijaz and *mōdrijaz, with the former being reflected in Latin patrius and Ancient Greek πάτριος (pátrios).
