Celtic etymology?

[edit]

The second element in this name could easily be Proto-Celtic *windos, "white", which is attested in other names of Celtic origin. My knowledge of PCeltic is minimal, so I defer to others on the *mallos.

There are documented cases of Celtic names in use amongst Germanic tribes.
