Labiovelar

[edit]

@Mellohi! If this has a labiovelar, why does it not appear in Brythonic as b? The Brythonic forms seem to point instead to kk. —Rua (mew) 16:54, 28 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Rua: Matasović assumes that the Brythonic forms were reformed later on to match the (s-)subjunctive stem, where the labialization was lost (and spirantized into /x/). He also supplies one Old Welsh form indeed containing a labial, nydebit, to support his point of the unlabialized forms being later reformations. mellohi! (僕の乖離) 17:55, 28 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
