French compagne

[edit]

Hi @Frambosy.

On semantic grounds, French compagne 'female companion' does not appear to come from this Vulgar Latin collective noun, with the meaning of 'crew, entourage, group of companions'. Nicodene (talk) 18:39, 30 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
