Etymology

From *rasku (fast, agile) +‎ *poris (boy, son), thus meaning the "swift son" or "son of the swift". Or, due to *rasku being a possible epithet of the Thracian horseman-god, another possibly meaning might be "son of the horseman-god".[1][2]
