Appearance

[edit]Etymology
[edit]Presumably from Proto-Germanic *waigraz, from Proto-Indo-European *woyk-ró-s, from Proto-Indo-European *weyk- (“to overcome, defeat”). By synchronic analysis, a ra-stem adjectival formation from Proto-Germanic *wiganą (“to fight”).[1]
