[edit]Etymology
[edit]Probably borrowed from Sogdian 𐼸𐼻𐼿𐼷𐼸 (kncyk, “young girl”), diminutive of 𐼸𐼻𐼿 (knc, “girl”). Some anaylse it as *kan + *-čïk, however considering the root is unattested and the suffix would have been *-čük at the time, this is unlikely.
Compared to Proto-Tungusic *kačikān (“puppy”) by Altaicists however that is likely a borrowing from Turkic.
Noun
[edit]*kančïk
- (Common Turkic) bitch; both in the sense of female dog and a promiscuous woman.
