Compare Proto-Mongolic *bol- (to become), Khitan 𘮧𘯶 (*p o, to become, appoint) and Proto-Uralic *wole- (to be). (Can this(+) etymology be sourced?) Karakhanid, Bulgar and Turkmen forms point to a short vowel instead.
