Reconstruction:Proto-Turkic/čortan
Appearance
Proto-Turkic
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Likely comparable to Proto-Mongolic *curukaï (“pike”) and Proto-Tungusic *čōr- (“pike”). (Can this(+) etymology be sourced?) Thus, analyzable as *čor- + *-tan.
Compare Mongolian цурхай (curxaj, “pike”) and Solon соралди (soraldi, “pike”).
Noun
[edit]*čortan
- pike (fish)
