[edit]Etymology
[edit]Probably comes from an ancient dead verb used to denominate the body's response to a mosquito bite, *čï̄p- + *-gan. Related to Proto-Turkic *čï̄pïn (“fly; gad-fly; mosquito”), Azerbaijani çibin. Compare also Proto-Mongolic *ciyigan (“tumour, albugo”). (Can this(+) etymology be sourced?)
