[edit]Derived from *sila- (“to roast on a spit, put on a spit”) + *-pūn. The deriving stem *sila- has been compared to Turkic and Mongolic. [1] Compare Proto-Turkic *sīĺ (“tooth; sharp stick”) and Proto-Mongolic *sidün (“tooth”).
