[edit]Literally, “on ten”, a formation found also in Latvian -padsmit, Albanian -mbëdhjetë, Romanian -sprezece, Hungarian tizen-, Old Armenian -տասան (-tasan), dialectal Ancient Greek [Term?] and Tocharian B [Term?].

[edit]- Some descendants reflect a morphological variant *na desętь (literally “to ten”), possibly favoured to allow it to be declined like numerals like *pętь (“5”).[1]
