Etymology
[edit]From Proto-Balto-Slavic *iˀnias[1] (whence Lithuanian ýnis), perhaps from Proto-Indo-European *h₁iH-n̥-yós,[2] from *h₁eyH-. Morphologically equivalent to *jьnь + *-jь.
