Reconstruction:Proto-Permic/kȯin
Appearance
Proto-Permic
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Unknown. Probably related to Northern Sami gaidne.
- Lytkin proposes a possible connection to Ancient Greek ὕαινα (húaina), probably via an unattested cognate in a Indo-Iranian language.
The Udmurt form may point to an alternative variant *koin.
