[edit]Compare Old Chinese 藍 (OC *ɡ·raːm, “indigo”), whence Thai คราม (kraam), and possibly Khmer ត្រុំ (trom). Schuessler (2007) considers this an areal word, possibly originates in Southeast Asia.
