Fähnrich, Heinz, Sarǯvelaʒe, Zurab (2000) “*tx-”, in Kartvelur enata eṭimologiuri leksiḳoni [Etymological Dictionary of the Kartvelian Languages] (in Georgian), 2nd edition, Tbilisi: University Press, page 244, reconstructs *tx- considering "-ar" to be affixal. This assumption relies upon Nadareišvili's nonexistent Svan **ლი-თხ-უნ-ე (**li-tx-un-e) (the correct form of which is ლი-ტხ-უნ-ე (li-ṭx-un-e) which can't be related on phonetic grounds). As there's no reason to suspect a suffix within Svan itself, Georgian ნთხ-ევ-ა (ntx-ev-a) can't be related to this root either. Hence the correct reconstruction is *txar-
