Reconstruction:Proto-Kartvelian/naʒw-
Appearance
Proto-Kartvelian
[edit]Alternative reconstructions
[edit]- *naʒ₁w- (Fähnrich, 2007)
Reconstruction
[edit]Uncertain.
According to Fähnrich, Mingrelian ნოჯი (noǯi) suggests that Proto-Georgian-Zan *naʒ₁w- should be reconstructed instead. That would mean that Svan ნეზუ̂რა (nezûra) is borrowed from Georgian and Mingrelian ნუზუ (nuzu), a doublet of ნოჯი (noǯi), must be a very ancient borrowing from Georgian for it to undergo უ < *ო < *ა (u < *o < *a) change.
