  • Usually envisioned as a derivative of something like *kom- (together) +‎ *wiros (man) +‎ *-jom, literally assembly of men.[1]
  • Vine envisions instead a derivation from *kom- (together) +‎ *wēros (true) +‎ *-jom, literally [social group with] mutual trust.[2]
