From Proto-Indo-European *h₁é-ǵʰo-ǵʰers-t ~ *h₁é-ǵʰo-ǵʰr̥s-ént, o-reduplicated athematic root aorist of *ǵʰers- (“to stand on end”).^[1]^[2]
