[edit]Etymology
[edit]Possibly from Proto-Indo-European *muH-lo-s (“lips, muzzle”), from a root *mew- (“to chew”) with no certain cognates outside of Germanic. Has been compared with Ancient Greek μύλλον (múllon, “lip”), though the origin of the double λ is uncertain.[1]
