From Proto-Indo-European *h₃bʰrúHs (eyebrow, rim, edge). Cognate with Sanskrit भ्रू (bhrū́, eyebrow),[1] Lithuanian brùvē (brow), Old Irish brū (edge, shore), Russian бровь (brovʹ, eyebrow).
