[edit]From Proto-Finno-Permic *waśara, borrowed from Proto-Indo-Iranian *wáȷ́ras. Akin also to Proto-Samic *veačērē, Erzya узере (uźeŕe, “axe”), Moksha узерь (uźeŕ, “axe”).
